Algarve

The Algarve in Portugal is known all over the world as one of the most popular tourist destinations. Visitors come here for many reasons but its beaches in particular are a major attraction. From busy, densely populated beaches to quieter more secluded locations the Algarve has it all and when it comes to selecting a beach, the choices are many and varied. The Algarve as a whole enjoys long periods of uninterrupted sunshine so any beach is ideal for relaxing and basking in the warmth. However it is imperative to be adequately protected against the sun at all times. Faro International airport serves many countries across the globe so getting here is easy. The roads have improved greatly in recent years and there are buses, taxis and many car hire firms to help you get around once you arrive. If you get a little restless while lazing on the beach then there are many landmarks in the region that will please the sightseer. In particular the castle at Silves and the old town of Lagos are very popular with holidaymakers from all over. (courtesy ilovealgarve.net)
