Mykonos town is about what you would expect of a small island town that depends on tourism. The town streets are small and windy with lots of shops and a few restaurants on the open plazas. Along the harbor there are mostly restaurants and the ticket offices for the various ferry and travel agencies. A few clubs are also present along the water front, but being that I wasn’t in town at night I can’t say what you can really expect there.

The two best places to catch a taxi in town are at the square next to the harbor and up and the bus station. Be warned that you can be in for a considerable wait at both locations. Mykonos seems to have a shortage of taxis, so you don’t usually find them just waiting around for passengers. Fortunately, the taxis are affordable. The ride from town down to Paranga beach is only 9 Euros, and a ride to Paradise beach should be about the same.

Also along the harbor are the boats which go to Delos Island each day. Delos is an archeological site and isn’t on the regular ferry routes. From Mykonos town there are three boats out in the morning and three back in the afternoon. The crossing itself takes about 40 minutes. You need to buy your boat ticket at the kiosk at the left (southern) end of the harbor not at the boat itself. Also, note that the Delos boats leave from the southern end of the harbor and not from the port which is at the north end of the harbor.
